Psychotherapist who worked with Manchester Arena bomb survivors launches revolutionary online mental health service

A psychotherapist renowned for his work in the aftermath of the Manchester Arena bombing has launched a new online service that he says will “revolutionise” the way mental health services are coordinated for people.

Dov Benyaacov-Kurtzman is the founder of Eden Wellness Therapies of Harley Street London, which will deliver a full range of behavioural, contextual and psychodynamic therapies, as well as other wellness services, exclusively online. He says its boutique-style personal case management service will make holistic mental health a lifestyle choice and “not just a response to crisis”.

Instead of leaving the client to coordinate their care, trained case managers at Eden Wellness Therapies will ensure a seamless connection between client, therapist, consultant and other health providers.

All therapists and consultants referred by the company will also be handpicked and subject to a rigorous screening process.

Dov Benyaacov-Kurtzman explained: “There are many benefits to receiving therapy online especially as one does not have to travel. This saves time and can work out to be cost effective as there are no transport, parking costs and no valuable and precious time-wasting commuting.”

He said the primary aim of Eden Wellness Therapies was to “advocate” for its clients.“Our handpicked and trained case managers understand the importance of achieving quality outcomes for their clients and commit to the appropriate use of resources with the aim of empowering their clients in a manner that is supportive and caring,” he said.“

We will raise the quality of your life by working, guiding and accompanying you in active pursuit of activities, choices and lifestyles that lead to you being in a state of holistic health.”In addition to evidence-based traditional psychotherapies, Eden Wellness Therapies of Harley Street London also offers yoga, physical training, mindfulness training, retreats and live events.

Dov Benyaacov-Kurtzman added: “We are out to provide a high end service and break the stigma by making holistic mental health a lifestyle choice and not just a response to crisis.

”Mr Benyaacov-Kurtzman has spent his career in mental health services and was heavily involved in helping survivors of both the Manchester Arena bomb and the Grenfell Tower disaster. His book, Mind Over Terror: 3 Weeks, 2 Cities, 1 Mission, detailed his attempts to change the approach to survivors of psychological shock and trauma in the UK.“

I have spent a long time in mental health,” he said. “One of the things that I have noticed is that patients are left to their own devices, and I think that leaves them at a distinct disadvantage. There’s nobody doing advocacy for them, and that’s why we see a clear opportunity for Eden Wellness Therapies.

Notes to editorsThe World Journal of Psychiatry (June 2016) found that online therapy has the same positive outcomes as face-to-face therapy and that mental health assessments made using online therapy were as reliable as assessments made during face-to-face therapy. A study in The Journal of Affective Disorders (January 2014) showed that an internet-based intervention for depression was equally beneficial to regular face-to-face therapy.
