TUAL strengthens R&D for advanced charger technology with new headquarters at Bicester Motion

The new standalone facility in Oxfordshire’s innovation hub unites product design, prototyping and customer engagement as the company accelerates the development of its battery-buffered DC PowerUp Charger.

TUAL, the pioneering creator of ultra-deployable charging solutions for commercial electric vehicles, has announced its move into a new standalone headquarters at Bicester Motion – further reinforcing the vibrant cluster of automotive and engineering innovation in Oxfordshire.

The substantial cross-functional site represents the next stage in TUAL’s phased growth plan. By bringing together commercial product development, testing laboratories and prototyping under one roof, the new customer-facing hub provides an optimised environment for efficient collaboration and the advancement of TUAL’s industry-leading charging technology.

In addition to its purpose-built facilities, the headquarters benefits from direct access to Bicester Motion’s dynamic test track, enabling live demonstrations and real-time testing of the company’s products. Together, they offer a unique platform to showcase the progress of TUAL’s flagship PowerUp Charger – a robust, rapidly deployable, battery-buffered DC charging solution engineered to address grid constraints and provide reliable, high-speed charging wherever fleets require it most.

While TUAL’s software development remains in Glasgow, the new Bicester Motion headquarters offers expanded space for customer engagement and applied innovation, reinforcing the company’s dual-hub strategy for continued growth.

Phil Clarke, Founder and CEO of TUAL, said:
“The move into our new full-service site represents a pivotal step in TUAL’s journey. It gives us the space and visibility to accelerate commercial product development while welcoming customers into an environment designed for collaboration and real-world testing. With the PowerUp Charger already proving its capability in challenging fleet environments, these facilities allow us to build on that momentum and deliver new innovation to market faster.”

Daniel Geoghegan, Chief Executive of Bicester Motion (APC), added:
“TUAL’s technology is redefining what’s possible in commercial EV charging, giving fleet operators and owners of grid-constrained sites the flexibility to fully commit to the EV transition. Their new standalone site at Bicester Motion reflects both their ambition and the growing importance of dependable charging solutions to the wider mobility sector, so we’re delighted to see the business expand its presence here.”

The move follows several milestones for TUAL, including its strategic partnership with Polarium to integrate its high-performance, cloud-connected LFP batteries into the PowerUp Charger systems for the first time, as well as a planned roll-out across Scotland – demonstrating the technology’s resilience and performance in remote, grid-limited locations.

TUAL’s new headquarters is located in Unit 135 at Bicester Motion, opposite Hagerty, the classic motoring specialist, and leading motorsport component supplier Penske Racing Shocks – positioning TUAL firmly at the heart of the Bicester Motion innovation ecosystem.
